Evac integrates Deerberg-Systems, the global market leader in marine environmental protection systems
[Helsinki/Oldenburg] Evac Group (Evac), a leading global provider of environmentally friendly water, waste and wastewater collection and treatment equipment and solutions for the marine, building and offshore industries, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Deerberg-Systems GmbH (Deerberg). Deerberg, based in Oldenburg, Germany, is the global market leader in marine environmental protection systems for the treatment of dry and wet waste (DW) on board all kinds of vessels. The Deerberg Multi-Purpose-Waste-Management-System MPWMS® is renowned in the marine industry to be the leading solution in this field. With this acquisition Evac is now able to offer a total, flexible multipurpose waste management system from one source.
According to industry estimates, the DW treatment market will continue to grow in the coming years. These estimates are based on strong demand coming from the cruise vessel and ferry segments. The acquisition of Deerberg will elevate Evac to be the leading player for total waste management systems in the cruise ship segment.
Tomi Gardemeister, CEO of Evac Group Oy, says; “The fit with the excellent DW solution lines of Deerberg is perfect. This acquisition will strengthen our role as a solutions provider for the cruise business sector, because the requirements of waste logistics needs and DW treatment are growing within the sector. This move will further enhance our total waste management solutions offering to our main customers, both in recycling and recovery, as well as in energy efficient thermal treatment.”
According to Mika Karjalainen, COO of Evac Oy; “By combining state of the art technologies, our customers will benefit from our ability to treat, recycle and take care of the whole waste logistics on board ships. Additionally, we can manage all the interfaces and act as a one stop shop system integrator, both in new buildings and in global after sales. After sales service can now be organized more efficiently, because only one visit is necessary to discuss and manage all relevant issues.”
Jochen Deerberg, the founder of Deerberg, leaves a strong company and legacy of environmental pioneering work behind. In the past 35 years he has deeply committed himself and his activities to the protection of the seas. The merger of the two leading companies in marine environmental protection will secure the continuation of his efforts. “The oceans are our global commons!”, has been Deerberg’s motto since 1992.
“By presenting this total waste management concept to the marine industry, especially the cruise industry, Evac is giving the right answer to the continuous restructuring, optimization and concentration processes of ship operators and European yards. But also with a view to the developing Asian markets, especially China, where Evac already has a strong presence, this merger is happening at the right moment,” says Jochen Deerberg, founder, owner and CEO of Deerberg.
New Managing Director of Deerberg will be Ljubo Jurisevic, Managing Director of Triton-Evac GmbH. He will operate from Oldenburg and Hamburg, reporting to Tomi Gardemeister.
With the integration of his company into the Evac Group, Jochen Deerberg is satisfied to have found the right partner to continue his lifetime achievement in the best possible manner. Jochen Deerberg will act as Personal Group Advisor to support Tomi Gardemeister and Ljubo Jurisevic in integrating Deerberg into the Evac organization and ensuring a smooth handover of all activities.
